Somalia, 5 October 2025 – Jubaland officials have expressed their readiness to engage in dialogue with Somalia’s federal government following President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s on Sunday.
In a Facebook post, the Jubaland State House said the region “remains committed to open dialogue and to working toward fulfilling the aspirations of the Somali people.”
President Mohamud was welcomed at Kismayo Airport by Jubaland President Ahmed Mohamed Islam ‘ Madobe’ and senior regional officials.
Villa Somalia, the presidential palace in Mogadishu, had earlier said the visit is part of ongoing consultations aimed at strengthening cooperation between the federal government and Federal Member States.
Jubaland administration and the Federal Government have been at loggerheads for more than a year after President Mohamud and President Madobe differed over issues ranging from politics, constitutional review process and security of the country.
