Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-The second group of young, Somali Children with heart diseases on Sunday departed from the capital Mogadishu to Milan city in Italy where they will be cured according to diplomatic sources.
"Second group of Somali minors with heart diseases to be cured in Italy (Milan) departed from Mogadishu yesterday! Thanks to the Italian and Somali partners for their amazing contribution to improve the health and quality of life of these kids. Hambaliyo to all of them! ", Italian Embassy in Somalia said on X Monday.
The Embassy said the first group of Somali minors with heart diseases departed from Mogadishu to Niguarda Hospital, the Lombardy Region in Italy for cure, saying that the initiative was realised by the Italian NGO GRT, the association of the Somali community of “Mother and Child Care two weeks ago.
Hormuud Salaam Foundation said it facilitated the departure of the second cohort of Somali children afflicted with congenital heart defects to Milan, Italy, where they will receive specialized medical treatments and surgeries not readily available in local healthcare facilities.
"This humanitarian endeavor aims to provide critical care to 119 children in dire need. The Lombardy Regional Government has graciously undertaken the responsibility of covering their medical expenses, while Hormuud Salaam Foundation is covering their travel and accommodation costs during their stay in Italy", HSF said in a statement.
