Kenya, 27 October 2025 - As national examinations kicked off across the country, Mama Ida Odinga has sent her best wishes to all candidates sitting for this year’s tests.
Mama Ida spoke at her Opoda home in Bondo, when she hosted a delegation from Uriri Constituency led by Member of Parliament Mark Nyamita, who had visited to pay homage to the late Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga.
Mama Ida encouraged the candidates to remain confident and focused, noting that examinations are not the end of life, but stepping stones to greater opportunities.
“To all our young learners sitting their exams, I wish you success and calmness of mind. You have worked hard, and now it’s time to showcase your effort,” Mama Ida said.
“Education remains one of the most powerful tools we can give our children, and I am proud of the progress our schools continue to make.”
The Uriri delegation, led by MP Mark Nyamita, expressed their gratitude to Ida for her warm hospitality during their condolence visit. Nyamita described Raila Odinga as a true democrat whose life and leadership continue to inspire millions across Kenya and beyond.
“We came here not only to mourn but also to celebrate the life and ideals that Raila stands for — democracy, justice, and unity,” Mr Nyamita said.
“His influence has shaped Kenya’s political landscape and nurtured a generation of leaders who believe in fairness and equality.”
The legislator further pledged that he and his colleagues would continue to uphold and champion Odinga’s vision for a just and prosperous nation.
“[Raila] Odinga has been our moral compass. His resilience and sacrifice for democracy are unmatched. We, as his protégés, must ensure that his dream of a better Kenya remains alive and achievable,” he added.
The Uriri MP also reflected on Odinga’s humility and connection with the people.

“What made him special was his ability to relate with ordinary citizens. He used to listens to and understand the common mwananchi and then he would act. That is the mark of a true servant leader,” Mr Nyamita emphasized.
“Even in challenging times, he never gave up — and that optimism continues to inspire us all.”
Among those present at the meeting were Rapogi High School Principal Erastus Nyagwa, Uriri Principal Marcus Odhiambo and several Members of the County Assembly including Graham Kagali George Omamba, and Peter Mijungu.
Principal Erastus Nyagwa took the opportunity to commend Mama Ida for her continued support to education and philanthropy in the region.
“Mama Ida has sponsored more than 15 students from Rapogi High School and Oruba Girls Secondary School,” Mr Nyagwa revealed.
“Her commitment to empowering young people through education has transformed lives. We are deeply grateful for her generosity.”
Mama Ida in response, said she remains dedicated to uplifting education standards, especially for the girl child.
“When we educate our children, we secure our nation’s future. I will continue to support needy students wherever I can,” she affirmed.
The visit concluded with the delegation offering prayers for the Odinga family and reiterating their resolve to advance Odinga’s legacy of integrity, equality, and service to the people.
