Mogadishu, 24 August 2026 — Hormuud Salaam Foundation has provided scholarships to 232 students since launching its programme in 2019, with 97 having graduated and 103 still studying.
Thirty-one students have left the programme and one has died, the foundation told Dawan Media.
The foundation will hold its annual scholarship examination Sept. 2 and 3 at 7 a.m. at Hormuud University in Mogadishu to select this year's recipients.

Students who completed secondary school in the 2025/26 academic year are eligible, subject to requirements and documentation, it said.
The scholarships cover fields including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, petroleum engineering, geology, mechanical engineering, digital marketing, mass communication, political science, agriculture, veterinary science and marine science.
The programme was established to expand access to higher education for Somali students who achieve strong academic results, the foundation said.
