MOGADISHU, 11 October 2026 Somali opposition party Himilo Qaran has warned President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud that he will be held responsible for any consequences resulting from attacks on politicians’ offices, according to a statement issued by the party on Sunday.
The party said President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, whose term it described as having ended, would bear responsibility for any harm arising from an attack on the offices of political figures.
“Himilo Qaran wishes to inform the Somali people that the president whose term has ended will bear responsibility for any consequences arising from an attack on the offices of politicians,” the party said in its statement.

The statement comes amid political tensions in Somalia, where disagreements over the country’s political process and electoral arrangements have fuelled disputes between the federal leadership and opposition groups.
Himilo Qaran did not identify any specific planned attack or provide details of an incident in which politicians’ offices had been targeted.
