MOGADISHU, 4 October 2026 Somalia’s Minister of Health Ali Haji Aden on Sunday held a welcoming and information-sharing meeting with newly appointed Secretary-General of the National Health Professionals Council Omar Ahmed Qaadi.
Aden welcomed the new leadership and emphasized the importance of cooperation and coordination in developing health professions in the country.
The meeting provided an opportunity for introductions and an exchange of information on the responsibilities and mandate of the council.

Qaadi was appointed secretary-general on September 20, 2026, with the appointment taking effect the same day the decision was issued, pursuant to Articles 13 and 14 of the National Health Professionals Council Law No. 31.
The council is responsible for regulation of health professions, with its work contributing to improving quality and professional standards of health services in the country.
