Kenya, 18 May 2026 - Cabinet Secretary for Energy and Petroleum James Opiyo Wandayi has assured residents that the government is working to upgrade power supply in Wajir County.
CS Wandayi gave the assurance during his visit to the county on Monday.
He acknowledged the persistent power challenges facing the region and stated that plans are underway to improve electricity connectivity and ensure reliable power supply for both residents and businesses.
The upgrading of power infrastructure is expected to reduce frequent outages, promote economic growth, support community services and improve the overall quality of life in Wajir and the wider North Eastern region.

The CS further emphasised that the government remains committed to strengthening energy infrastructure across North Eastern Kenya to spur development and attract investment.
He also called for calm over the rising fuel prices, saying he would engage transport sector operators upon his return from Wajir to address the matter.
