Kenya, May 17 ,2026 - Gor Mahia moved a major step closer to another FKF Premier League title after securing an important 3–1 victory over Murang’a Seal in a high-pressure league clash played on Sunday evening.
The win sees K’Ogalo open a four-point gap at the top of the table, meaning they now require just two points from their remaining two matches to officially clinch the league crown and secure yet another domestic triumph.
Played in a tense atmosphere with the title race entering its decisive stage, the match tested Gor Mahia’s composure after Murang’a Seal briefly threatened to frustrate the league leaders.
Gor Mahia started brightly and took the lead in the 18th minute through Samuel Kapen, who finished calmly after the visitors capitalised on early attacking pressure. The goal settled K’Ogalo and allowed them to dictate possession during large periods of the opening half.
However, Murang’a Seal responded strongly and managed to level the match in the 36th minute when John Waithira found the back of the net to make it 1–1. The equaliser gave the home side renewed confidence and temporarily shifted momentum away from the league leaders.
The first half ended level, leaving the match finely balanced heading into the second period.
But Gor Mahia returned from the break with greater intensity and purpose.
Just six minutes into the second half, Musa Shariff restored Gor Mahia’s lead in the 51st minute with a crucial finish that immediately swung control back in favour of the visitors. The goal proved significant not only tactically but psychologically, as Murang’a Seal struggled to recover after conceding so early in the half.

As the pressure increased, Gor Mahia continued to push forward in search of a third goal that would secure the result. Their persistence paid off in the 77th minute when Enock Asifuah added another goal to put the match beyond reach.
That third goal effectively ended Murang’a Seal’s hopes of mounting a comeback and allowed Gor Mahia to manage the closing stages with greater composure.
The victory represents one of Gor Mahia’s most important results of the season, particularly with AFC Leopards continuing to apply pressure in the title race. By collecting all three points away from home, K’Ogalo now place themselves firmly in control of their destiny with only two matches remaining.
According to updated league calculations following the match, Gor Mahia now need just two more points from their remaining fixtures to mathematically secure the FKF Premier League title.
For Murang’a Seal, the defeat was another difficult result despite showing resilience in the first half. Their equaliser briefly threatened to disrupt Gor Mahia’s title march, but they were ultimately unable to contain the visitors’ quality and experience after the break.
As the final whistle sounded, Gor Mahia supporters celebrated what could prove to be a decisive evening in the championship race.
The league leaders are now within touching distance of another FKF Premier League crown.
