Djibouti(Mogadishu24)-The Swan Hellenic cruise ship arrived in Djibouti on Tuesday, making its first tourists destination in the region. Tourists from around the world, who departed from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, set foot on Djibouti’s shores to embark on new adventures.
The visit included a stop at Lake Assal, a breath-taking saltwater lake, ranked as the third lowest point on Earth.
The tourists also visited Djibouti Ports which played a crucial role in transforming the old port into a bustling business district and establishing a cruise line terminal making Djibouti a tourist destination.
“Swan Hellenic, a luxurious cruise ship from the Swan Hellenic fleet, has made its arrival in Djibouti port. On-board, tourists from every corner of the world embark on a remarkable journey,” wrote Djibouti Ports and Free Zones Authority wrote on X account.
“Their Djibouti stop includes an awe-inspiring visit to the breath-taking Lake Assal, a saline lake that stands as the third lowest point in the world. With the old port’s transformation project into a business district and plans for a dedicated cruise line terminal, Djibouti is set to become a prime tourist hub,” added Djibouti Ports.
Kai Ukkonen, the captain of the Swan Hellenic ship, stated that this trip was an important starting point for the tourists to explore Djibouti’s tourists destinations, with its rich history of stunning landscapes, and vibrant culture.
“This is the first time we are coming here, and we are very happy to be here. We had very warm welcoming on arrival; we had some dancing and everything else that were heart-warming and welcoming for our guests, and we are pleased to this. This is the first time coming here, and we hope to come here in the future and in the coming years,” said Kai Ukkonen, Swan Hellenic Ship’s captain.
Djibouti’s strategic location in Africa and its extraordinary culture and natural resources as a destination for tourists in search of extraordinary adventures.
This strategic location has also made Djibouti a key trade hub for the continent, attracting investments and fostering bilateral relations with countries such as France, the United States, Russia, Italy, China, and several Arab nations.
