Kenya, 20 August 2026 - Garissa Woman Representative has launched women Economic Empowerment and Value Addition initiatives worth KSh 22,557,757.96 through National Government Affirmative Action Fund.
Speaking during the function at her Garissa Office, Amina Udgoon Siyad said a total of 159 groups will benefit, reaching 6,853 beneficiaries, including women, youth and persons with disabilities.
Economic empowerment, she said, gives the people the means to build sustainable livelihoods while supporting education gives our young people the foundation to shape a better future.
At the same function the women representative launched a KSh 14 million NGAAF Bursary Kitty, supporting 1,428 students across the county.
“Leadership is about more than holding office. It is about making deliberate choices that improve people’s lives, creating opportunities for those who need them most, and ensuring that public resources translate into tangible impact,” she added.
The assortment of equipment distributed during the empowerment launched includes Chips making machines, sewing machines, boda bodas, blue dry for women in Saloon business amongst other goods.

She regretted that the National Government Affirmative Action Funds only came in piece mills limiting the women representatives to do much but to wait and do one activity that could benefit many people at once.
Udgoon also reiterated calls for political tolerance urging residents and political leaders to embrace peaceful campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections.
She urged her supporters to not engage in violent confrontations with anyone with different political opinions, adding that she believes in God’s destiny that whoever was ordained to get the seat will get it.
