August 19, 2026 - Garissa Woman Representative Amina Udgoon Siyad has called for political tolerance ahead of the 2027 General Election, urging leaders and residents to embrace peaceful political competition as she threw her support behind President William Ruto’s re-election bid.
Speaking after distributing an assortment of equipment from the National Government Affirmative Action Funds (NGAAF), the women representative said people should avoid personal attacks and should continue to lobby and campaign to whoever they want.
She said political violence and attacking personal characters is outdated and political leaders should seek their campaign without maligning anyone.
“Kenyans are civilized people. Everyone should take up a voters' card and vote for whoever he/she wants but we need to have political tolerance because we are one people and brotherhood does not end,” she said.
She said people in Northeastern will re-elect President William Ruto to serve for the second term adding that his administration has done a lot for the country.
As leaders she noted that they are together in routing for President’s re-election adding that they might compete amongst each other in their local politics but will be united to campaign for the President.
“We will fight here on the ground for all seats but when it comes to the top seat we are saying two terms,” she told her supporters who gathered at her Garissa office.

The lawmaker said people are fighting and abusing him politically because of huge investment by his administration to Northeastern Kenya, noting that the region will fully back him for his second term in office.
Udgoon who was elected through Jubilee ticket is campaigning for her re-election saying she will do a clean campaign devoid of insults.
Recently while she was responding to attacks by former women representative Anab Gure, she said she is civilized and was brought up in good upbringings and would not delve into responding to insults.
Other candidates eying her seats includes current ODM nominated Mp Umulkheir Harun, former Garissa women representative Shukran Gure, Mulki Warsame, Kiman Ugaas amongst others.
