Kenya, 18 August 2026 - In a milestone declaration for negotiated democracy in Wajir North, the Gareen Community Committee has officially endorsed Principal Secretary for the State Department for National Government Coordination Ahmed Abdisalan Ibrahim as their sole candidate for the Member of National Assembly position in the 2027 General Election.
During a formal ceremony attended by clan elders, religious leaders, youth, and women representatives, Abdisalan was presented with the official endorsement certificate.
The committee commended his track record as a former MP and senior government official, citing his leadership, dedication to community development, and ability to unite the constituency.
Negotiated Democracy
In Wajir's clan-based political structure, receiving an endorsement and an official certificate from elders/council signifies single-candidate unity for the Gareen sub-clan, minimizing vote-splitting against rival candidates or other clan blocks.
National Experience
Having served as the Member of Parliament for Wajir North (2017–2022) and subsequently appointed as a Principal Secretary, Ahmed Abdisalan returns with both legislative background and national executive experience.

Next Steps for the Campaign
Moving forward from the clan blessing, the campaign must transition into multi-clan coalition building across Bute, Gurar, Korondile, Malkagalla, Buna and beyond.
Accepting the certificate, Abdisalan expressed profound gratitude to the council of elders and the community for their faith in his vision.
He reaffirmed his commitment to building inclusive leadership, prioritizing education, water infrastructure, health services, and economic empowerment across all wards of Wajir North.
“This endorsement is a solemn trust that I do not take lightly. I extend an open hand to all communities across Wajir North as we work together toward a shared, prosperous future,” stated Abdisalan.
