Dhusamareb, 17 August 2026 — The Galmudug State Ministry of Education has announced results of this year’s Grade 8 Exams reporting a pass rate of 97.2% and a sharp decline in failures compared with last year.
According to the ministry, 8,104 students sat the exams at 41 centers across Galmudug. The candidates included 4,180 boys and 3,924 girls.
A total of 7,881 students passed, including 4,073 boys and 3,808 girls. A total of 223 students did not meet the required pass mark, including 116 girls and 107 boys.

The results mark a significant improvement from last year, when 21% of candidates failed. This year’s failure rate stands at 2.8%.
Education officials said Galmudug has independently administered Grade 8 Exams for the past eight years. They added that the number of students progressing to secondary education has steadily increased over the last five years, reflecting improvements in both access to and quality of education in the state.
