Kenya, July 02, 2026 - Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Thursday intensified preparations for the 2027 General Election after meeting leaders of Kiama Kia Kiama, saying the elders had offered guidance on the opposition's next political steps and the formation of what he termed the "sixth administration."
Speaking at his Wamunyoro home in Mathira Constituency, Nyeri County, Gachagua described the elders as custodians of wisdom whose counsel would shape the country's political future as consultations continue.
The former Deputy President said the meeting focused on safeguarding the interests of the Kikuyu community while building partnerships with other Kenyans in pursuit of a new national political order.
"Through their counsel, I have been directed on the way forward in our journey to liberate our country, including the formation of the sixth administration," Gachagua said.
He said the elders had urged leaders to pursue unity, prudent decision-making and broad-based consultations before making major political decisions.
"Elders are repositories of wisdom and foresight. They see far ahead and deliberate carefully before making decisions. They pause before speaking and scrutinize thoroughly before granting approval or rejection," he said.

Gachagua added that he was honoured to receive the guidance of Kiama Kia Kiama, saying the council plays a critical role in advising the Kikuyu community on political, economic and social affairs.
"Their guidance ensures the safety and prosperity of our community and the nation at large," he said.
He maintained that consultations with political and community leaders were ongoing but stopped short of revealing the coalition partners or the timeline for unveiling his political strategy.
The latest meeting comes as political activity across the country gathers momentum, with leaders increasingly positioning themselves and forging alliances ahead of the 2027 General Election.
