Kenya, 6 July 2026 - Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has welcomed a delegation of opinion leaders from Gichugu Constituency to his Wamunyoro residence as he steps up grassroots consultations ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The meeting, which brought together respected community leaders from Kirinyaga County, forms part of Gachagua's ongoing engagements aimed at building support for what he has described as the country's "liberation" and the formation of the "Sixth Administration."
Sharing details of the meeting, Gachagua described Gichugu as a place that played a significant role in shaping his early life, saying his connection with the constituency extends beyond politics.
"Gichugu Constituency in Kirinyaga County is my second home. I spent nine years of my early life; six years at Kianyaga High School from Form One to Six and three years as a District Officer," he said.
He said he was honoured to host the delegation as consultations with leaders across the region continue.
"I was humbled this morning to receive a high-powered delegation of respected opinion leaders from Gichugu as part of the ongoing consultations on the liberation of our country and the formation of the Sixth Administration. Consultations continue. God Bless Kenya."

Images shared from the meeting showed Gachagua interacting with elders and local leaders in a relaxed setting, including taking part in a traditional cultural ceremony where he drank from a calabash, a symbol widely associated with hospitality and community unity in many Kenyan cultures.
The engagement is the latest in a series of consultations Gachagua has held with grassroots leaders as he seeks to strengthen his political base and rally support for the opposition ahead of the next General Election.
His continued focus on meetings with community elders, opinion leaders and local stakeholders reflects a strategy of building political support from the grassroots while reinforcing longstanding ties with communities across the Mt Kenya region.
