MOGADISHU, 27 September 2026 – A new book titled "Hidden Waves" has been launched in Mogadishu.
The book was written by Halima Ismail Ibrahim, also known as Halima Yarey, the former Chairperson of the National Independent Electoral Commission.
The book, which consists of 14 chapters and 366 pages, chronicles the author's life and the experiences she went through throughout her personal and professional journey.
The launch, held on Sunday, was attended by government officials, including ministers and members of parliament, as well as academics and several Somali writers.

During the event, it was announced that proceeds from the sale of the book would be dedicated by Halima Yarey to supporting orphaned children, particularly in the area of education.
The plan is to use the proceeds to build a school for orphaned children in the central Somali city of Dhusamareb.
Halima Ismail Ibrahim previously served as Chairperson of Somalia's National Independent Electoral Commission. According to the book, she is an academic specializing in agricultural science and rural development and previously served as a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Agriculture of Somali National University.
