2 June 2026 - Fafi Member of Parliament Salah Yakub Farah has said he will abscond President William Ruto’s tour to a section of his constituency terming the visit as a hoax.
The MP, who at some point caused controversy over his proposal to extend the Presidential term limit to seven has claimed his constituency and larger North Eastern have been given a raw deal.
In a widely shared post, the Mp noted that the President is coming to tour and inspect the Lapsset project which he said is not specific to his constituency.
After Presiding the Madaraka day celebration in Wajir County which has been described as historic Ruto will be touring and commissioning projects in Garissa and Wajir counties.
In Garissa, the President will build a ground breaking electricity mini-grid in Maalimin in Lagdera Constituency and inspect construction of the Garissa-Ijara Road at Sarira, Fafi Constituency.
The UDA mp has in the recent past been criticizing the Kenya kwanza administration saying their support for the re-election of President William Ruto is not automatic.

The Mp said his constituency deserves its own dedicated development agenda including water for every community noting that clean water is a right not a privilege.
According to the MP, his constituency deserves roads, education, for the children including schools, teachers and a better future adding that his people need access to quality healthcare.
Yakub is amongst the few UDA legislators in the region recently speaking in his constituency said he will mobilize people in the region against the ruling party as a result of what he said were fake promises by the Kenya Kwanza government.
“Our votes will not be automatic, we are telling the President that people should not lie to you that they will single handedly deliver the region,” he said while speaking in Nanigi.
