Mogadishu (Dawan) – The European Union congratulated the Somali people on the 66th anniversary of Somalia’s Independence Day and expressed support for a peaceful and democratic nation.
In a statement, the EU said it joins the Somali people in celebrating the joy of the independence days, which symbolize the long struggle for freedom and national unity.
The statement said Somalia has gone through difficult periods, but the Somali people have shown strong resilience and hope. The EU also noted that it will continue supporting Somalia, particularly in the areas of democracy, peace, stability and development.

The commemoration of the 66th anniversary of Somalia’s Independence and Unity comes at a time when the country is engaged in efforts to strengthen state-building, security, reconciliation and the development of public services.
