Somalia, 21 July 2026 – A major step to strengthen youth innovation, technology, and digital skills was taken
Ethiopia's Somali region on Tuesday inaugurated an Innovation and Technology Centre aimed at strengthening youth innovation, technology and digital skills, according to SRTV Somali.
President of the Somali Regional State, Mustafa Muhummed Omar, officially opened the centre, emphasizing its importance in fostering youth creativity and improving community livelihoods. “This centre will play a key role in developing youth innovation and knowledge, creating job opportunities aligned with modern technology,” he said.

The administration said the center is part of the 2030 digitalization vision and will promote digital skills, innovation, and local and national investment.
The conference brought together innovators, experts, government agencies, technology companies and universities to discuss the future of technology and digital transformation in the region.
The Innovation Centre is designed to support small businesses, research, training, and digital skill development. The facility will also showcase new innovations, host discussions, exhibitions, and workshops to strengthen collaboration among government, business, universities, and the technology community.
