Ethiopia, 18 April 2026 Ethiopia’s Somali Region has launched an aid programme to support over 10,000 households in Godey, the regional media reported Friday.
The initiative will target several districts, including Adadle, Elele, Hargeelle, Elkari, Tulli-guuleed and Danod, focusing on communities affected by drought, conflict and other calamities. It will also support vulnerable groups, particularly those with special needs.
The programme will be implemented by the region’s Bureau of Social Affairs and UNICEF, with funding provided by the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

Speaking at the launch event, the Deputy Minister of the Bureau of Social Affairs, Mohamed Ahmed, said the programme would be implemented through coordination among different partners and outlined the mechanisms for delivering assistance to beneficiaries.
Officials said the initiative aims to address humanitarian conditions in targeted areas and support vulnerable communities.
