Ethiopia,1 December 2025 -The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Ethiopia has announced the start of the registration process for Hajj 2026 (1447 AH), affirming its readiness through expanded administrative and technical measures aimed at improving services for Ethiopian Muslims.
Sheikh Abdulkarim Sheikh Badruddin, Deputy President of the Council, stated that registration centers have been expanded to cover all regions of the country and officially began operations on 1 December 2025, using modern electronic systems and qualified staff to ensure fast procedures and accurate data entry.
The Council explained that it succeeded this year in reducing the cost of dollar-priced services from $4,921 to $4,228 through open tenders — a 15.6 per cent decrease compared to last year. Meanwhile, Hajj fees in Ethiopian birr rose by only 18.4 per cent, instead of the expected 35 per cent, reaching 740,000 birr (approximately $4,850).

The Council also noted that Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has requested the completion of registration and data entry before 26 January 2026 (7 Sha’ban 1447 AH), emphasizing the submission of medical certificates and health screenings in accordance with official regulations.
The Council further announced that the registration process for diaspora communities is nearing completion, pending final approval from the Saudi side, and revealed plans to launch a special service for VIPs, to be announced soon.
The Council urged all intending pilgrims to adhere to the deadlines and fulfill the required procedures to ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage experience.
