Addis Ababa, 17 August 2026 Ethiopia has repatriated 2,212 more citizens from Saudi Arabia, bringing the total returned under the government's ongoing repatriation programme to more than 94,000, according to the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs.
The latest group of returnees included 2,210 men, one woman and one infant, while 38 of those repatriated were under the age of 18.
The ministry said the operation forms part of a nationwide repatriation programme launched on 15 September 2025 to assist Ethiopians living in difficult circumstances abroad.

Authorities said coordinated efforts are underway to provide returnees with immediate assistance, social support and reintegration services, while helping reunite them with their families.
The Ethiopian government said the continued repatriation programme reflects its commitment to prioritising the safety, dignity and welfare of its citizens overseas, particularly those facing hardship, and to ensuring they receive the support needed to rebuild their lives at home.
