ADDIS ABABA (Dawan) – Ethiopia’s House of Federation Standing Committee on Regional Affairs, Democratic Unity, and Constitutional Awareness said it has made progress strengthening national unity and federal system, according to SRTV Somali.
The committee reviewed the 2025/2026 fiscal year performance report presented by Secretary Banchi Yirga Melese during a session attended by Committee Chairman Mohamed Shaale.
The report noted that the committee implemented various initiatives aimed at strengthening inter-ethnic relations, promoting understanding of the constitution and federal system, and developing institutional frameworks that support social cohesion.

It also highlighted expanded constitutional and federalism awareness programs, particularly during the 20th Ethiopian Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples’ Day, which introduced new approaches to enhance social integration.
Ms. Melese stated that nearly 30 million people were reached through awareness campaigns, alongside community dialogue platforms designed to strengthen democratic understanding and cooperation.
Committee Chair, Engineer Mohamed Shaale Isaaq, said the report will be submitted to parliament in the upcoming session after incorporating feedback and recommendations from committee members.
