United States, 3 January 2026 - Somalia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Abukar Dahir Osman, is facing scrutiny after Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX and Tesla, publicly called for his arrest over alleged involvement in fraud.
Musk’s post on X (formerly Twitter) referenced allegations linking Osman to past involvement with a healthcare company in the U.S. that was accused of Medicaid fraud.
The controversial tweet focused on claims about Osman’s prior role in Progressive Health Care Services Inc., a company that operated in Ohio between 2014 and 2019.
Despite the online buzz, no formal criminal charges or investigations have been confirmed by U.S. authorities, and the claims remain unsubstantiated.

According to corporate records, Osman was listed as a managing director for the company, which was accused of financial misconduct. However, there are no official records linking Osman directly to any criminal activity.
Osman, who has served as Somalia's UN Ambassador since 2017, has represented the country’s interests in global peace and security. His leadership is under further scrutiny as Somalia takes on the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council in January 2026.
So far, Somalia’s UN mission has not commented on the allegations or Musk’s call for arrest, and the Somali government has not issued an official response, with attention now focused on the broader implications of Somalia’s leadership at the UN.
