ALAMEIN, 3 October 2026 - Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in Alamein on Saturday on the sidelines of the opening of the Alamein Business Forum, according to the Egyptian presidency.
El-Sisi welcomed Hassan Sheikh and praised progress in Egypt-Somalia ties, especially the comprehensive strategic partnership established in January 2025.
El-Sisi reaffirmed Cairo’s support for Somalia’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, as well as its support for government institutions, security and stability.
Hassan Sheikh highlighted the historic and fraternal ties between the two countries and praised Cairo’s political, security and development support for Somalia.

Hassan Sheikh stressed the importance of continued consultations and welcomed Egypt’s efforts to support Somalia’s unity, institution-building and efforts to restore security and stability.
Egyptian presidential spokesperson Mohamed El-Shennawy said the leaders discussed Somalia’s internal situation. El-Sisi stressed the importance of national understanding among Somalia’s political actors and different segments of society to support unity and stability.
The two presidents also exchanged views on regional developments, including the Horn of Africa, the Gulf of Aden, the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and the Red Sea.
They agreed on continued consultations and coordination among Somalia, Egypt and other regional countries to support security and protect regional interests.
