Kenya, 27 August 2026 - Police officer Elijah Kimoi, who allegedly shot dead Kenya’s top medic Dr Victoria Mutiso, was on Thursday arraigned jointly with Rose Mbithe Mulwa and her family.
Dr Mutiso was murdered on 29 July 2026 after a Toyota Prado intercepted the Uber vehicle in which she was travelling as she headed to her office.
The four suspects, Rose, her children Chris Mulwa and Angella Mulwa (both advocates), and Mr Kimoi, have been remanded until 23 September 2026, when they will be charged.
Justice Kanyi Kimondo ordered that the four be examined by a psychiatrist to determine whether they are mentally fit to stand trial.
The judge also directed the deputy registrar to allocate a lawyer to defend Kimoi.
All four will plead to the charge on 23 September 2026.
Rose caused drama in court earlier this week when she claimed that she and her children were being framed so that their estate, worth KSh 1.5 billion, could be plundered.

“I have not killed anybody,” she said, adding that they were being framed, that her accounts had been frozen and that she could not find money for medication.
Together with her son Chris, she claimed that the prosecution and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the police had been compromised to nail them for an offence they had not committed.
She said she had educated her ex-husband, Prof Daniel Musyimi Ndetei, from his second year as a medical student up to PhD level. She also claimed that Dr Mutiso, who had been her ex-co-wife, first came into their life as an office cleaner and that Prof Ndetei was the one who educated her.
After a divorce that has now lasted 30 years, Rose told the court that she had single-handedly educated all her four children, of whom three are advocates and one is an IT specialist.
