Brazzaville (Dawan) – August 15, 2026 – Djibouti athlete Houssein Sougueh Aden won the Brazzaville International Half Marathon on Friday in a new race record, while compatriot Souhra Ali Mohamed finished third in the women’s category, according to the Djibouti News Agency.
Sougueh Aden completed the 21.1-kilometre race in one hour, two minutes and 38 seconds, finishing ahead of other competitors at the 21st edition of the Brazzaville Half Marathon held in the Republic of Congo.
The Djiboutian runner took the lead from the early stages of the race and maintained his position until the finish line. Rwanda’s John Hakizimana finished second, while Uganda’s Chepkorom Ezekiel took third place.

In the women’s competition, Souhra Ali Mohamed secured a podium finish for Djibouti after completing the race in one hour, 13 minutes and 42 seconds.
The achievements of the two Djiboutian athletes earned the country a gold and bronze medal, highlighting the continued progress and growing competitiveness of Djibouti’s long-distance runners on the international stage.
