Djibouti, October 5, 2025 – The government of Djibouti has committed to promoting youth entrepreneurship in the cultural sector to help create more job opportunities.
The commitment was announced by the Minister of Youth and Culture, Hibo Mumin Casowe, during a recent workshop held at the National Archive Centre in Balbala District.
The Ministry presented the findings of strategic studies that analyzed the potential of cultural innovation and how theyouth can contribute to creating more job opportunities in the country.
"This new study highlights the untapped potential of youth in the cultural industries and innovation, with over 4,200 people, mostly women, now able to make a living from their artistic skills," said Minister Hibo.
The Minister emphasized the government's dedication to fostering cultural and innovative growth by implementing essential plans from which the youth can benefit.
The workshop was also attended by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Ilyas Muse Dawaleh, representatives from United Nations agencies such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and other entities involved in supporting Djibouti’s youth entrepreneurship efforts.
The event showcased cultural art created by Djiboutian youth, highlighting the potential of cultural innovation and its impact on job creation and cultural development.
The government described the event as a success, underscoring its efforts to encourage youth participation in cultural innovation to help create more job opportunities.
