Djibouti(Mogadishu24)- Djibouti has welcomed the Ankara Declaration signed between Somalia and Ethiopia under Turkey’s mediation, describing it as a positive development for the region and the African continent.
Djibouti’s Foreign Minister Mahmoud Ali Youssouf praised the agreement, stating:“The common declaration adopted by Somalia and Ethiopia yesterday in Ankara is excellent news for our region and our continent. Djibouti welcomes and supports this development.”
The agreement, reached during talks facilitated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, marks a step toward resolving the tensions between Somalia and Ethiopia that began earlier this year following Ethiopia’s controversial port deal with the breakaway Republic of Somaliland.
Djibouti, which has been a key advocate for peaceful dialogue in the region, was the first country to propose a diplomatic solution to the dispute.
The successful conclusion of the Turkey-brokered talks has been widely hailed as a significant step toward regional stability and cooperation in the Horn of Africa.
