Djibouti, 22 October 2026 – Djibouti’s National Meteorological Agency has warned that rain accompanied by thunder and lightning could hit the country on Friday and Saturday.
The agency said the forecast stems from a tropical disturbance that formed on 19 October in the southwest of the Arabian Sea before moving toward Somalia. The disturbance has affected weather conditions across the Horn of Africa.
Clouds associated with the disturbance have reached the Gulf of Aden, increasing the likelihood of rainfall over Djiboutian territory.
However, the agency said the intensity of the rain and the areas where it will fall remain uncertain. It added that this will depend on the path the disturbance takes and on atmospheric conditions across the region.
The agency said the coming days will be decisive in determining which areas are likely to be affected. Meteorological services are closely monitoring the situation and may revise their forecasts as conditions evolve.
The public is advised to follow official updates from the meteorological agency.
