NEW YORK, 28 September 2026 Djibouti urged the international community to preserve Somalia’s security gains and continue supporting Somali authorities as they take greater responsibility for protecting the country and its institutions.
Foreign Minister Abdoulkader Houssein Omar made the appeal on Saturday in an address to the United Nations General Assembly, saying Djibouti remained committed to working with the Somali people and government to consolidate peace and stability.
“The international community must preserve the security gains that have been made and continue to support the Somali authorities in fully shouldering their responsibilities and protecting their institutions,” Omar said.
