DJIBOUTI, July 21 2026 – Djibouti and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) discussed expanding cooperation to support the implementation of the country's ADEEG 2025-2030 National Development Plan, the state-run Djiboutian News Agency (ADI) reported on Tuesday.
According to ADI, Economy and Finance Minister Ilyas Moussa Dawaleh met UNDP officials at the agency's Rome Centre during a working visit aimed at exploring technical and financial cooperation for projects under the five-year development strategy.
The Djiboutian delegation included Ambassador to the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization Idriss Abdo Ali and UNDP Resident Representative in Djibouti Alessandra Roccasalvo.
During the meeting, Dawaleh outlined the government's priorities under the ADEEG plan, including economic development, industrialisation, economic diversification and the sustainable management of natural resources.

UNDP officials presented the agency's areas of work at the global and regional levels and discussed potential technical and financial support for projects linked to the national development plan, ADI reported.
Dawaleh also called for stronger South-South cooperation, saying greater collaboration among developing countries could help accelerate projects, particularly those focused on youth employment and economic diversification.
The two sides agreed to continue technical consultations in the coming weeks to develop a framework for cooperation and advance implementation of projects under the ADEEG 2025-2030 plan.
