Zimbabwe, 29 August 2026 - Djibouti is seeking to accelerate solar power expansion for remote communities beyond the national grid, the energy ministry said Friday.
Energy Minister Jama Mohamed Hassan discussed the plan with International Solar Alliance Director General Ashish Khanna on the sidelines of the ISA Regional Committee for Africa's eighth ministerial meeting in Victoria Falls, state news agency ADI reported.
The talks focused on rural electrification, technical training and solar infrastructure, ADI said.

The partnership includes plans for a Solar Technology Application Resource Centre, known as STAR-C, in Djibouti to provide technical expertise, training and quality control for solar equipment, ADI said.
Djibouti sees the centre as a way to strengthen domestic capacity to manage solar projects and develop regulatory frameworks to attract investment.
ISA outlined broader initiatives to mobilize solar investment in Africa, including a guarantee fund valued at €71 million to €200 million to reduce risk and encourage private-sector participation in off-grid projects, according to ADI.
