Mouloud, 28 August 2026 — Djibouti Red Crescent has provided cash assistance to 168 households whose roofs were destroyed by bad weather in Mouloud last month, the state news agency ADI reported on Thursday.
Each household received 80,000 Djiboutian francs, or about $449, to help repair or rehabilitate its roof, bringing the total assistance to 13.44 million Djiboutian francs, or about $75,500, according to the Red Crescent.
The July 27 weather event affected homes in Mouloud, in southern Djibouti, prompting a multisectoral response by the Red Crescent with support from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies through its Disaster Response Emergency Fund (DREF).
Red Crescent teams and volunteers visited affected households to assess damage, collect information and verify the eligibility of families for assistance, the agency said.

The organisation said it gave particular attention to vulnerable households, including those headed by women, large families, older people, people living with disabilities and families with limited financial resources.
The cash assistance was delivered in coordination with local authorities, including the prefecture, the Dikhil regional council and community structures in Mouloud.
Officials from the Red Crescent and local authorities attended a ceremony marking the transfer of the funds on Thursday.
The latest aid forms part of the Red Crescent’s broader response to those affected by the severe weather.
