DJIBOUTI, Aug. 12, 2026 – Djibouti has provided reconstruction assistance to 450 vulnerable households in Mouloud, in the Dikhil region, nearly two weeks after strong winds damaged homes and killed two people, the Djibouti News Agency (ADI) reported on Tuesday.
The government's emergency operation provided reconstruction materials and support for labour costs to affected families, according to ADI.
The 450 households were among the most vulnerable families, with homes consisting of a single room, ADI said.
A further 213 households are expected to receive financial and material assistance in the coming days to help rebuild their homes and return to normal living conditions.

The aid operation was attended by Dikhil regional prefect Hassan Abdi Robleh, interim president of the regional council Ibrahim Gouro Abdallah, and Amina Ahmed Warsama, secretary general of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Solidarity.
Representatives of the crisis cell, local authorities, the Mouloud Development Committee and companies including Al-Aoul Group and Djibouti National Paints also attended the event.
Local officials, donors and beneficiaries praised the government's response and highlighted contributions from individuals and businesses to the reconstruction effort, ADI reported.
The latest assistance marks a new phase of reconstruction following the government's initial emergency response to the storm, the agency said.
