DJIBOUTI, June 30 2026 – Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh met on Monday with the head of the Turkey-Djibouti Parliamentary Friendship Group Mustafa Alkayis to discuss expanding cooperation on trade, diplomacy and education, the Djibouti News Agency reported.
The meeting also focused on relations between Djibouti and Turkey, with both sides pledging to further strengthen ties, including through more high-level visits.
Alkayis delivered a message from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan congratulating Guelleh on Djibouti’s 49th independence anniversary.

Turkey’s ambassador to Djibouti, Erbal Sabri Ergen, attended the meeting, along with Djibouti’s ambassador to Ankara, Aden Houssein Abdillahi, and the diplomatic adviser to the Djiboutian president, Fathia Djama Oudfine.
The Turkish lawmaker, who is visiting Djibouti for several days, also attended Saturday’s military parade as part of the country’s National Day celebrations.
