DJIBOUTI, September 24, 2026 Djibouti’s National Police on Wednesday said it had repatriated 649 foreign nationals in a joint operation with the armed forces targeting irregular migration. The police said such operations would continue.
The police statement did not identify the nationalities of those repatriated or say when and where the operation took place. It gave no details of the checks carried out before their removal.

Djibouti is a transit point on a migration route from the Horn of Africa towards Yemen and the Arabian Peninsula. In June, around 80% of the migrants recorded entering Yemen had departed from Djibouti, according to the International Organization for Migration. That figure provides regional context; it does not establish that those repatriated in this operation were travelling to Yemen.
In a separate operation in August, police detained more than 200 people in Djibouti city and took them to the Nagad transit centre for identity checks, state media, ADI, reported.
