DJIBOUTI, Sept. 1, 2026 Djibouti's customs administration plans to introduce an electronic single-window system to bring customs services and trade procedures together on one platform, facilitating movement of goods, reducing delays and improving operational efficiency.
The project was discussed at a workshop held at the People's Palace to prepare for implementation, the Djibouti News Agency (ADI) reported.
The customs administration is working on the project with the Ministry of Commerce, the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat and Korean agency CUPIA. The agency has previously provided expertise in countries including Ethiopia, Tanzania and Ghana.
The workshop brought together Ministry of Commerce Secretary-General Ali Abdou Daoud, senior customs officials led by Abdourahman Izzi Awad, and representatives from AfCFTA and CUPIA.

Izzi said the project would go beyond strengthening the SYDONIAWORLD system currently used by customs, further simplifying and modernizing customs and trade procedures.
He said the proposed system would help shorten processing times, increase transparency and make operations more predictable for traders.
He added that the project aligns with AfCFTA's efforts to strengthen continental economic integration and facilitate trade between African countries.
The Ministry of Commerce secretary-general and representatives from AfCFTA and CUPIA also expressed support for the system, describing it as a step that would open new opportunities for Djibouti's customs administration.
