DJIBOUTI, (Dawan Africa) — Djibouti police are investigating the death of a woman in Balbala who died after an alleged assault in her home.
Police said the woman's husband, a suspect, is being held at Gabode Prison and faces homicide charges.
According to police, the incident occurred on June 23 at 7:00 p.m after an argument between the couple.
Preliminary findings indicate the husband threw a burning object at the woman, and she suffered severe burns, police said.
The woman was rushed to Peltier Hospital, but succumbed to her injuries on June 24, security authorities confirmed.

Medical examination found that the victim had suffered extensive burns to the front parts of her body, including her face, chest, lower abdomen and thighs.
Police said the investigation is based on testimonies from the couple’s children, neighbours and relatives, who described a pattern of repeated domestic violence in the home.
Some neighbours said they tried to rescue the woman but were allegedly prevented by the husband, who refused to open the door. The neighbour’s eventually forced their way into the house.
The suspect was arrested on June 25. He, however, denied the allegations against him, claiming that his wife had set herself on fire following an argument.
Police said they had sufficient evidence to charge the suspect with homicide and failure to assist a person in danger. The suspect has been remanded in Gabode Civil Prison as judicial proceedings continue.
