Djibouti, 28 August 2026 - Health Minister Mouna Osman Aden met the new head of the U.N. Population Fund in Djibouti, Amina Abdoulkader Mohamed, to discuss cooperation on maternal health, reproductive health and family planning, state news agency ADI reported Thursday.
The meeting followed Mohamed assuming her post and focused on strengthening cooperation between the ministry and UNFPA, ADI said.
Aden welcomed UNFPA's support and reaffirmed the government's commitment to the partnership, according to ADI. Mohamed said the agency was ready to support national health priorities and continue existing programs.

UNFPA says it has supported reproductive health initiatives in Djibouti since 1995, with current work focused on services for vulnerable populations, reproductive health data and support for survivors of gender-based violence.
Its work also includes strengthening maternal health services and training health workers, particularly midwives. UNFPA reported that 94% of health facilities in Djibouti reported no contraceptive stockouts in 2024.
