Djibouti, 29 September 2025– Djibouti has signed two financing agreements with the European Union worth a combined €7 million ($7.6 million) to support social and economic development and strengthen public policy implementation in priority sectors.
The accords were signed on Sunday by Djibouti’s Finance Minister Ilyas Moussa Dawaleh and Minister of Social Affairs Mouna Osman Aden, alongside the EU Ambassador to Djibouti, Dr. Denisa Elena-Ionete in Djibouti City.
Dawaleh announced the agreements, saying €5 million will go towards physical well-being and socio-economic development, while €2 million will support the monitoring and implementation of public policies.
Djibouti said the new package follows a previous $7 million programme financed by the EU.
“The European Union has today approved another project that will strengthen the earlier programme we have been implementing, which will run for several years,” said Minister Muuna.
The EU Delegation in Djibouti described the agreements as “a solid partnership in support of Djibouti 2035,” highlighting commitments to fight female genital mutilation (FGM) and reinforce development cooperation.
