Ethiopia, 24 April 2026 Djibouti and Ethiopia vowed closer economic and security ties in Addis Ababa talks Thursday, state media said. Djibouti delivered a message from President Ismail Omar Guelleh to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between the two countries, which maintain close economic and security ties, Djibouti’s state news agency ADI reported.
Abiy confirmed receiving the message in a post on X, saying the discussions also covered ongoing cooperation between the two sides.

“I received this morning… the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Djibouti, who delivered a message from President Omar Guelleh,” he said.
ADI said both sides expressed a shared commitment to consolidating their partnership, which they described as important for stability in the Horn of Africa.
Djibouti and Ethiopia have longstanding relations, with Djibouti playing a key role as a trade gateway for Ethiopia.
