DJIBOUTI, 3 October 2026 — Djibouti and Egypt are strengthening cooperation in energy and skills development, with Egyptian experts training Djiboutian engineers on renewable energy and solar power systems.
Djibouti’s Minister of Energy, in charge of Natural Resources, Dr. Djama Mohamed Hassan, on Friday chaired a ceremony marking the end of two training sessions held from 27 September to 1 October, according to state media, ADI.
The five-day programme focused on modern renewable energy systems, particularly the design, sizing, installation and maintenance of photovoltaic solar energy systems. It also covered electricity load calculations and system planning.
The ceremony at the Ministry of Energy was attended by Egypt’s Ambassador to Djibouti, Abdelrahman Raafat Khattab, Egyptian experts and trainers, government officials and trainees.
Egypt’s training programme coordinator Neesma Mohamed said Djibouti has participated regularly since 2016 in training programmes held in Cairo as part of Egypt’s human capital development programme. More than 183 Djiboutian participants have benefited from more than 58 sessions covering a range of subjects.

Ambassador Khattab said the cooperation extends beyond technical training and contributes to developing workforce skills, adding that the exchange of expertise could further strengthen relations.
Minister Hassan thanked the Egyptian government for its support and for the expertise provided by Egyptian specialists, and urged engineers and staff who took part to apply the knowledge to the development of the country’s energy sector.
The ceremony concluded with certificates presented to participants who completed the sessions.
The training is part of Djibouti’s plans to develop clean energy and strengthen national capacity in renewable energy, particularly solar power.
