ALI SABIEH, Djibouti, 11 October 2026 Two banks in Djibouti financed 40 business premises for entrepreneurs in the southern city of Ali Sabieh on Saturday, in an initiative aimed at supporting small businesses and stimulating local economic activity.
The premises were financed by Salaam Bank and BCIMR Bank, with each institution supporting 20 units, according to statements made at a distribution ceremony attended by regional officials and business representatives.
The initiative forms part of efforts by local authorities to expand commercial opportunities and help residents establish or develop businesses.
Fathia Idleh Doubad, head of the regional business association, said some beneficiaries had previously operated businesses from home or online before receiving the premises.
She said the allocation followed a selection process in which 92 applications were considered for the 40 available units.
