Djibouti, 24 May 2026 Djibouti’s military police said on Saturday they arrested a suspected firearms trafficker after a four-month investigation in an area known as “Vietnam.”
The operation was carried out by the Cheick Moussa Brigade with support from the GIGN as part of nationwide anti-crime efforts.
According to the military police, the suspect was intercepted while armed with a semi-automatic pistol.

Authorities said the arrest followed months of investigation focused on the individual, suspected of operating in the area. The military police did not provide further details about the suspect’s identity or the wider investigation.
The suspect is expected to be presented before the court after the completion of the investigation.
The force said the operation forms part of its continued efforts to combat crime and strengthen public security across Djibouti.
