Somalia, 30 November 2025 – Authorities in Armo town, in Puntland State's Bari region, delivered emergency water supplies to families displaced by the ongoing conflict in the Al Miskad mountains on Saturday.
The delivery is part of efforts to address severe water shortages affecting displaced households.
Local officials, working alongside district council members and volunteers, mobilized 15 trucks to provide water to the displaced families who fled their homes due to conflict and the ongoing drought.
According to the Mayor of Armo, the displaced families arrived in the town facing severe food and water shortages.
“This morning we provided water to the displaced people from Al Miskad. Their animals were also very distressed.,” said Mayor Mohamed Gelle Si’id.

The water distribution is part of broader humanitarian relief efforts to address urgent needs in the community.
The conflict in Al Miskad, which has been ongoing for nearly a year, began at the end of last year, displacing many families. The exact number of displaced people is still not known.
Most of the displaced are pastoralists who rely on seasonal rainfall, and the ongoing severe drought in the region has worsened the already bad situation.
Local authorities have called on the Puntland administration to provide additional humanitarian support, adding that the situation is getting out of hand.
Puntland had earlier declared a state of emergency due to the severe drought affecting its territories with nearly one million people.
