ISKUSHUBAN (Dawan) September 6, 2026 Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni visited Iskushuban district in Bari region on Saturday as part of a wider tour of areas in Bari and Gardafuu to assess public services, security and the needs of local communities, according to the Puntland presidency.
During his visit to Iskushuban, Deni announced that the construction of the district hospital would be accelerated, expressing concern over delays in implementing the project. He instructed that the contracting process be halted so that the funds could be transferred to the district administration to begin construction of the hospital.
Deni said Iskushuban is an old town with historical importance and has historic sites and natural resources that could make it a key tourism destination in Puntland.
He also said the Puntland government plans to hold a tourism week in the town in the coming months, directing authorities to speed up efforts to improve tourism sites, roads, services and the overall appearance of the town.
