Mogadishu (Dawan Africa) — Most respondents in a preliminary online poll conducted by Dawan said they do not plan to participate in a protest expected to take place in Mogadishu on Sunday.
The poll, published on Dawan’s Facebook page, asked users whether they intended to join the planned demonstration.
As of Saturday, 972 people had participated in the poll. Of those, 597 respondents, representing 62%, selected “No,” indicating they do not plan to attend the protest, while 375 respondents, or 38%, answered “Yes.”

The poll remains open and results may change as additional users participate.
The planned demonstration comes amid growing political tensions in Mogadishu, where opposition figures and government supporters have exchanged criticism over security conditions, governance issues, and the country’s political direction.
Former Somali President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, who chairs an opposition alliance based in Mogadishu, said earlier this week that residents of the capital should participate in Sunday’s protest to express concerns over some government actions.
