MOGADISHU, 14 October 2026 DAWAN Media Group has received a media award for its coverage of the East African Community conference, EACON 2026, which concluded in Mogadishu on Tuesday after two days.
The award was presented by the conference organizing committee during the closing ceremony, in recognition of the group's coverage and contribution to the event.
Throughout the conference, DAWAN delivered coverage in three languages — Somali, English and Arabic.
The coverage included interviews with government officials, business leaders, academics and other participants on the opportunities and challenges of Somalia's membership in the East African Community.

EACON is an annual conference focused on issues affecting the East African region and cooperation among member states. Mogadishu hosted the conference for the third time this year, with discussions on how Somalia can benefit from its membership.
Key areas included economic, commercial and regional cooperation opportunities as Somalia strengthens its engagement with the bloc.
The award recognizes DAWAN's role in providing broad coverage and facilitating public access to discussions on Somalia's regional integration.
