Kenya, April 25, 2026- Manchester United’s midfield rebuild could take a significant step this summer, with fresh reports revealing that Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba remains keen on a move to Old Trafford, almost a year after personal terms were first agreed.
The situation is not new, but it has re-emerged with greater clarity and momentum. Back in the summer of 2025, United had already reached a verbal agreement on personal terms with the Cameroonian international. At the time, the deal appeared close, with the player fully open to the move. However, Brighton & Hove Albion refused to sell, effectively shutting down negotiations despite the player’s willingness.
Now, nearly a year later, the same agreement is reportedly still valid, and crucially, Baleba’s stance has not changed.
Baleba’s potential switch to Manchester United has been one of those transfers that never truly disappeared. Even after the initial deal collapsed, United continued to monitor the midfielder closely.
The 22-year-old, who joined Brighton from Lille in 2023, has developed into a powerful, all-action midfielder known for his ball-winning ability, stamina, and versatility.
